With the 2013 Perth World cup under way in the western Australian city of Perth, Somalia’s expatriate football team representing the name of their war-devastated country are expected to take on Brazil on Sunday 13th of October according to the schedules of the competition.
Lead by the experienced coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed, Somalia has been recorded as the most successful country in the tournaments organized for the Australia-based expatriate teams since 2009. In 2009 Somali U-18 boys won the junior cup after defeating South Africa by 1-0 in the final match whilst our senior team finished in the 2nd place of the seniors event of the competition.
Somali community football team coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed told journalists that he was fully confident in his boys who had been showing a wonder at the competition for the past several years.
“This is a competition and when going to a contest you can expect both a victory and defeat, but as my boys are very strong and have enough skills for football competitions, I am hopeful they will be victorious” noted the Somali Coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed during his media briefing on Saturday.
The Brazil match is expected to be one of the hottest matches in the tournament as both teams have been seen as the strongest in the tournament. The match will be played on Sunday 13th of October 2012 at 16:45 local time.
Somalia showed a wonder at the Perth world cup in 2009 and the greatest recorded victories for Somalia in that year include: Somalia 10 Ukraine 2, Somalia 6 Colombia 1 and in the final match Somalia 1 South Africa 0.

Somali Football Federation lauded for the activities by experienced coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed who scored tangible victories for his country since his team joined the Perth world cup in 2009.
“Although they fled from their country and are based in a foreign nation, coach Abdul Haq and his boys have still high hopes and are carrying the flag of Somalia, so far the coach scored tangible victories and we are very proud of what he is doing there” Somali Football Federation president Ali Said Guled Roble said in a press statement.
The president noted that Somali Football Federation had known about the coach’s activities and was always very happy with his performances. “Coach Abdul Haq has told us that he has prepared very skilful youngsters who are ready to represent Somalia in international competitions and we hope that the young boys will have the chance to represent Somalia in the near future international competitions” Somali Football Federation president Mr. Ali Said Guled Roble said.
In 2009 the Somali coach Abdul Haq Mohamed Ahmed was awarded as the best coach in the Perth world cup.
The Western Australian capital of Perth has been hosting the global football event for expatriate communities since 1977, but Somalia joined the competition just four years ago with their coach recognized as the best in his first year.
