Somalia Parliament’ Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee contradicted that Somali Government has signed US petition against Syria.
Deputy Chairperson of the committee Prof. Mohamed Omar Dalha said that they know nothing about the signing and calls to wait for the government’s statement on the issue.
The U.S. Special Representative for Somalia, James McAnulty has recently welcomed the decision of the Federal Government of Somalia to join 33 other nations in supporting the September 6 Joint Statement on Syria, according to Dalsan, a local radio in Mogadishu.
But Somali government hasn’t issued a statement confirming or denying their US support on a military action against Syria.
“We only heard from the media. The government, Office of the President and Foreign Affairs Ministry has said nothing about this issue, so it’s very important to know the accuracy of this.” Dalha said in an interview with a local radio.
US is seeking international support to take a military action against Syria, accusing Asad’s regime using a chemical weapons against civilians.
