An Official says Revolutionary troops have seized control of a port and bank in the northern semi-autonomous region of Puntland, bringing business of the city to a halt, Jiinwabinet (JWnews) reports.
Sources told Jiinwabinet (JWnews) that hundreds of unhappy Darawish forces blocked on Wednesday afternoon all streets heading to the port and Bank in the port city of Bosaso , Puntland’s commercial hub. The situation left workers and trucks stranded.
An official who asked anonymity said the forces are complaining of poor living conditions, 30% salary cut & accuse the Puntland authorities of not paying their salaries for 10 months properly.
“The mutineers have vacated their defenses in Sugure area located on the outskirts of Bosaso, where they faced AlShabaab fighters in Galgala mountain ranges and put a siege on Wednesday both and port and bank,” said the unnamed Puntland official.
The situation of the city is reported to be tense and local residents express growing concerns of possible fighting between the mutineers and the local forces that are guarding the port and bank.
Jiinwabinet (JWnews) is monitoring the situation deeply and will keep you updated.
