Somalia: Explosion At Beled Weyn

Just in from the town of Beled Weyne the headquarters of Hiran Region confirm that a massive explosion has occurred at the heart of the town. Eye witness confirmed that the bomb was a remote controlled one.

The blast occurred near the central police station of the town and it was targeting a government troop’s envoy and Djibouti troops.

It has been reported that two people have been reported injured of which one is a government soldier and the other one is a civilian. The injured are been treated at Beled Weyn regional hospital.

The chief inspector of police in the region who contacted Shabelle radio said that the type of the bomb was remote controlled type but has voiced that there were no major casualties.

He added that after the incident, there was a major operation conducted by the government troops in such for the culprits. A number of suspects have been arrested and being questioned at the central police for information.

The town of Beled Weyn is in the hands of Government troops, Ethiopian troops, and AMISOM troops from Djibouti.
